Phillip Garth Law
Eric Macklin
On the passage from Melbourne to Wilkes a Beaver aircraft was damaged on board the ship in a storm and was returned to Australia unused. An inspection was made of the site for Casey, the replacement station for Wilkes. The Amery Ice Shelf was delineated from the ship using radar and landings were made at the southern extremity of Prydz Bay. Two thousand nautical miles of soundings were made. The vacated Davis station was inspected on 19 Feb. This was Dr Phillip Law's last ANARE voyage
