Nella Dan was forced to sea on 19 Feb when her anchor dragged in 70 knot winds and was not able to return to the Davis anchorage until 20 Feb. High winds continued until Mawson was reached. At Mawson the fixed-wing aircraft was dismantled and loaded on the ship. Helicopter operations ceased after 1 Mar after a visit by geologists to Painted Peak. On 27 Feb, three helicopters and four geologists visited Church Mountain, Scullin Monolith, and Murray Monolith
