Graeme William McKinnon
A magnetometer installed and operated by the University of New South Wales was towed for three days on the way to Macquarie Island. A LARC was used for the first time on ANARE operations. Scientific parties concentrated on short summer projects. The ship escorted the LARC and DUKWs down the east coast to resupply Sandy Bay and Green Gorge, to obtain botanical specimens and recover the rabbit control party. A magnetometer survey of the island was attempted on the voyage to Melbourne.
