Comments
Nella Dan left Hobart on 18 Feb on the last voyage of the season. The voyage to Davis experienced very rough weather. Unloading was carried out in excellent weather and proceeded quickly, with 15-hour days being worked. The ship left Davis on 2 Mar and made a smooth, fast voyage to Mawson, arriving on 4 Mar. Weather again was excellent, with almnost no wind. Ther was aspeedy turnaround, with two barges and two LARCS enabling the task to be achieved in short time. Nella Dan left Mawson on 6 Jan with members of the Davis and Mawson summer and winter parties. Excellent time was made intil two days from Hobart, when engine problems caused a delay. The ship arrived in Hobart on 19 Mar to end the season's operations. Source: Antarctic Division Annual Review 1983-84
