This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the Bulgaria Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The peak rising to 900 m in the SE foothills of Detroit Plateau on Nordenskjöld Coast in Graham Land. Situated at the W extremity of a rocky ridge linked to Mount Elliott, 2.61 km SSE of Kavlak Peak, 7.49 km SW of Darzalas Peak, 5.01 km W of Mount Elliott and 3.69 km NE of Gusla Peak. Surmounting Dinsmoor Glacier to the N and Desudava Glacier to the S. British mapping in 1978. Named after the Bulgarian bolyar (boyar) and warrior Ivats (10-11th century).
