The ridge in the Vestfold Hills is irregular with a NNW-SSE orientation about 2.5 km long with an average width of about 0.6 km in the south and about 1 km in the north. Part of the feature is bounded by the 25 m contour which marks an old beach level. The ridge has an elevation of about 40 - 50m in the south rising to a little below 70 m in the north. It consists of ancient Precambrian rock and separates Marine Plain from Poseidon Basin and its southern extension. As defined Pickard Ridge includes a small isolated outcrop south of the ridge proper and separated from it by a 100 m gap.

A prominent, solitary nunatak at the eastern edge of the Amery Ice Shelf. Discovered on 2 November, 1957, during a flight by an ANARE Beaver aircraft over the Amery Ice Shelf. Named after Flight Sergeant R. Pickering, RAAF, of the Antarctic Flight at Mawson in 1957.

An island, just west of Mitchell Peninsula, Windmill Islands. The island was plotted as two islands from photographs taken by USN Operation Highjump (1946-47). The feature is now considered to be one island or two islands joined by permanent ice.

A submarine bank on the Kerguelen Plateau about 113 nautical miles north-west from Heard Island. Pike Bank has been mapped by various survey vessels including the Eltanin, Cape Pillar, Professor Mesyutsev and the RSV Aurora Australis. The species Pike glassfish commonly occurs on this bank.

An elongated frozen lake between the Sørsdal Glacier and the Vestfold Hills. The ice is between 3 and 4 m thick and the water at least 70 m deep. The water underneath the ice is fresh. The ice surface is flat in places with ridges and hummocks in other places.

A prominent island about 3 km long and 0.5 km wide in the southern part of Casey Bay in Enderby Land. Photographed from the air by RAAF Antarctic Flight in 1956. First visited by an ANARE party led by Bruce H. Stinear in October, 1957. Named after J. Pinn, geophysicist at Mawson in 1957.

A low pass about 0.5 km long, rising to 6 m above sea level, between the south-east arm of Tryne Fjord and Long Fjord in the Vestfold Hills. Used for the portage of sledges and suitable for tracked vehicles. Mapped by Norwegian cartographers from air photos taken by the Lars Christensen Expedition (1936-37). First visited by an ANARE sledging party led by Bruce H. Stinear in 1957.

A lake measuring about 0.8 by 0.3 kms about 1.3 kms east from Kemp Peak. The lake is roughly triangular in shape. It drains from it northern end into Stillwell Lake via a channel that flows infrequently.

An ice-covered point with rock exposures along its seaward side, about 22 km north-west of Cape Hunter in George V Land. Discovered on 30 January, 1930, by the US Exploring Expedition (1838-42), under Wilkes, who named it after Lieut. James Alden of the expedition's flagship Vincennes.
