An almost circular shoal area about 3 km from Béchervaise Island. The least depth obtained was 11 m but it was not completely surveyed. Discovered in February, 1961, during a hydrographic survey of Mawson Approaches by Cmdr. d' A. T. Gale, Hydrographic Surveyor with the ANARE Expedition on the MV Thala Dan led by D.F. Styles.

A peak in the western extension of the Athos Range, Prince Charles Mountains, about 2 km north-west of Mount Bensley and about 20 km south-west of Mount Starlight. Recorded on terrestrial photographs taken by R H Lacey, surveyor at Mawson in 1955, and aerial photography by ANARE in 1959 and 1965. Named after D.B. Carter, electronics technician at Mawson in 1965.

A rock in the Mackellar Islands lying to the north and north-west of Cape Denison, on the coast of George V Land. Discovered by AAE (1911-14) under Sir Douglas Mawson, who named the group of islands after C.D. Mackellar of London, a patron of the expedition.

A lake about 1.5 km by 0.25 km in size located about 2.4 km east from Kemp Peak. The lake drains from its north end down a spectacular snow-ice cascade into Stilwell Lake. Named for the spectacular snow ice cascade.

A scientific station on the northern part of Bailey Peninsula, Budd Coast about 3 km south of the abandoned Wilkes station. Construction of Old Casey station commenced in January, 1965 and was continued, mainly during summer visits, until February, 1969, when the station was opened and activities were transferred from Wilkes station. The sixteen buildings of the present Casey Station were officially opened in December 1988. The previous tunnel Station was finally decommissioned, demolished and returned to Australia in March 1989.

The western of two large bays in the west of Enderby Land where formerly one bay, Amundsen Bay, was charted. Discovered by ANARE personnel from an aircraft in 1956. Named after the Rt., Hon. R G Casey, C H, DSO, MC (later Lord Casey), Australian Minister for External Affairs, 1951-60.

A narrow rock outcrop separating Sheraton Glacier and Arriens Glacier in the Mawson Escarpment. Plotted from ANARE air photographs taken in 1956, 1960 and 1973. Named after J N Casey, (then) Assistant Director (Geology) of the Bureau of Mineral Resources, Geology and Geophysics, Australian Department of Minerals and Energy, Canberra.

A jagged, razor-backed ridge and several nunataks in line extending north-south, parallel to the David and Masson Ranges in Mac.Robertson Land. Discovered on 5 January, 1930, by BANZARE (1929-31) under Sir Douglas Mawson. The Rt., Hon R G Casey (later Lord Casey) who was at the time the Australian political liaison officer in London, and closely associated with BANZARE.

The bay is constantly a raging mass of white water and spray as westerly gales drive the ocean swell into the Island. The agitated water suggests a boiling cauldron. The western embayment of McDonald Island.

This remarkable, kidney-shaped ice marginal lake is located at Cape Jones, Obruchev Hills. It is about 500 m long and 150 m wide with a sheer rock and ice perimeter wall up to 30-40 m high which directly abuts the rapidly flowing Denman Glacier. The water level in this lake is in delicate equilibrium and fluctuates dramatically on a seasonal basis. The first impression gained on visiting the lake is that it has been formed by the uniform collapse of the bed, leaving sheer rock and ice walls up to 30-40 m high. This impression conjures up visions of a giant cauldron.
