A large, prominent tongue of blue ice, which plunges between Blank Peninsula and Mount Rich into the centre of the Brown Hills. Discovered by the Victoria University of Wellington Antarctic Expedition (1962-63). So named because in plan the glacier is shaped like the head and neck of a dog with a transverse zig-zag moraine forming the collar and a proglacial lake in the position of the ears. Fog regularly accumulated over the glacier from the Ross Ice Shelf.

A colony of emperor penguins usually situated between Traverse Island and Fold Island, at the eastern side of Stefansson Bay, Kemp Land. It was first sighted from the air in 1956. Note: emperor penguin colonies may not remain in one fixed location.

A lone peak about 6 km west of Mount Banfield in the Hansen Mountains, Kemp Land. Plotted from ANARE air photographs. Named after N.E. Foley, weather observer at Mawson in 1965, a member of one of the survey parties which carried out a tellurometer traverse passing through the Hansen Mountains in 1965.

A bluff 7 km west of Cape Murray and 6 km north of Cheney Bluff, on the southern side of Carlyon Glacier. Mapped from air photographs taken by the US Navy. Named by USACAN after Lt. Cdr. R K Fontaine, USN, commander of USS Hissem on ocean station duty in support of aircraft flights between New Zealand and McMurdo Sound during Operation Deepfreeze 1964.

A precipitous cliff face which rises from Hoseason Beach on Heard Island and lies at the northern end of an exposed rock feature located between the Nares and Baudissin Glaciers and extending towards Big Ben. The cliff face exhibits limestone sedimentation. Named after Jock Forbes, carpenter with the 1952 ANARE, who died nearby on the Baudissin Glacier in 1952 following an accident on Hoseason Beach. He is buried on the island.

A glacier about 22 km west of Mawson in Mac.Robertson Land. Mapped by Norwegian cartographers from air photographs taken by the Lars Christensen Expedition (1936-37) and called Brygga (The Wharf). Renamed after A Forbes of ANARE who perished on a field trip on Heard Island in 1952.

A ridge 13 km long, extending northward from Mount McClintock along the eastern side of Hinton Glacier. Mapped from air photographs taken by the US Navy. Named by USACAN after R B Forbes of the University of Alaska who made geological studies in the McMurdo Sound area with USN Operation Deepfreeze in 1955-56 and 1962-63.

An island in the southern part of the Windmill Islands, off the Budd Coast, about 3 km east of Holl Island. Plotted from air photographs taken by USN Operation Highjump (1946-47). A landing was made there by an ANARE party led by Phillip Law in January, 1956. Named by USACAN for Homer D Ford, Photographic Officer US Operation Highjump 1946-47, and Assistant Photographic Officer US Operation Windmill 1948.

A point of land between Bainmedart Cove and Radok Lake in the eastern part of the Aramis Range, Prince Charles Mountains. The area was visited several times in January-February, 1969, by A Medvecky, geologist with the ANARE Prince Charles Mountains survey party.Deposits of fossil wood were found on the point.

A horseshoe-shaped rock outcrop in the southern part of the Manning Nunataks, on the eastern side of the Amery Ice Shelf. The Manning Nunataks were photographed by USN Operation Highjump (1946-47) and ANARE (1957). They were visited by the Soviet Antarctic Expedition in 1965 and ANARE in 1969. Named after A.L. Foster, electronics engineer at Mawson in 1970, a member of an ANARE glaciological traverse party on the Amery Ice Shelf in January, 1970.
