An ice dome about 12 kms in diameter with ridges extending radially from the summit of the dome which is about 50 m above the surrounding area. This was as far as the traverse route extended for the 1990-91 season, hence the name 'Turnback'.

Named by USACAN after M.D. Turner, USARP representative in 1959-60, who carried out geological studies in the dry valley areas west of McMurdo Sound.

A long, shallow ridge with snow passages resembling turnstiles throughout its length. The highest point is 2233 m above sea level. Discovered and named by the Darwin Glacier Party of the TAE (1956-58) in December 1957.

A small nunatak above the lower Nimrod icefalls, on the northern side. Discovered by the northern party of the New Zealand Geological and Survey Antarctic Expedition (1961-62). So named because of the turretted cliffs on the southern side of the nunatak.

A small re-entrant of the ice shelf into the plateau on the western end of the Amery Ice Shelf. Photographed by ANARE aircraft in 1956. The position of the feature was fixed by John Manning, surveyor at Mawson (1967) in February, 1968. So named because the survey party was flown into the area after sunset, necessitating navigation and photo identification in twilight.

A major ice gully (0.75 km long and 30 m deep) cut by a melt water stream in the plateau ice at the edge of the Vestfold Hills. The north facing side is a cliff showing the strata of the plateau ice and the floor and south facing sides are mantled by moraine.

A glacier on the Knox Coast of Wilkes Land between Snyder Rocks and Cape Nutt. Delineated from air photographs taken by USN Operation Highjump (1946-47) and named by USACAN after Lieut. J.A. Underwood, USN, who served on the Sloop Vincennes of the United States Exploring Expedition (1838-42) under Wilkes.
