Custodian evaluation

23 May 2002

The figures reflect the seasonal production of waste, with figures as low as 500 kg per month in winter when expeditioner numbers are low, to maximum figures of 1900 kg in summer when numbers are highest. Food scraps and wood products were usually the greatest contributor to this type of waste. Some exceptional events are recorded, such as burning 850 kg of spoiled potatoes at Macquarie Island in January 2001.

The figures reflect the seasonal production of waste, with low figures per month in winter when expeditioner numbers are low, to maximum figures of in summer when numbers are highest and items need to be be disposed of prior to resupply. Food scraps and wood products were usually the greatest contributor to this type of waste. Some exceptional events are recorded, such as burning 550 kg of meat at Macquarie Island in January 2003
